Tektonische Konstruktionssystematik

Tectonical Construction Systematics

If one understands tectonics as interaction between manifestation and constructural facts, the volatile nature of this term in connection with current architectural output becomes clear. This presents itself as a pluralistic play of forms according to corporate identity viewpoints on the one hand and constructural exhibitionism on the other. It is not our aim here to revive a functional interpretation, our concern is the controlled interaction between artistic intent and constructural conversion. The constants of our perception and the conventions of living together play an important role as does the current standard of building technology. In the form of case studies, an attempt will be made to find an adequate architectural expression. This will be done with an analysis of those historical examples with a significant relationship between construction and realization. Despite its novelty, it should still correspond to our habits of perception and with it to our natural physical senses.

Course and Length of the Course of Study
One year full-time course or two year part-time course for professionals according to individual study program.

Support
The student suggests the subject within the given restrictions. This is then made more specific and definitive in cooperation with the Chair. An independent project is expected which will be developed in regular meetings with the Chair. The project must consist of a historical-analytical and a design section, and must be handed in as a bound thesis.
